JH Andresen 40 years of White Port
At first glance, this aged 40 Years Old resembles a Tawny, but the green and orange reflections reveal that the glass contains an old aged white port, as the wine's original color, aroma and taste transform over time; and yes, time again plays the main role – the mark of nobility and the signature of JH Andresen's aged wines.
The color takes on a deep orange mahogany, the aroma and taste clearly transformed from primary fruit to somber, dried fruit and cedar, concentrated aromas and layers upon layers of acacia honey, nectar and hazelnut, all saved by balanced cleansing acidity, despite its age incredibly fresh and weightless with an almost infinite aftertaste. The grape types and associated grape suppliers belong to the past; as Carlos Flores reveals, the oldest wines in the blend are from the 1950s Salazar and a Portugal that has rapidly changed since then.
