Vieira de Sousa Vintage 2003
The wine is made from grapes from several different Quintas around the Douro Valley, but all of which belong to Vieira de Sousa. The wine is made in the traditional way by being fermented in the large lagares. The color of the wine clearly shows that the wine has been in casks since its production. In the glass it appears almost nutty brown with shades of red and gold.
The aroma is insistent and the wine unfolds beautifully in the mouth. Fewer nuances of red fruits and a taste more dominated by dried fruits, many raisins and notes of vanilla. Well integrated and fine structure in the mouth. The experience is characterized by dried fruits with a suitable acidity that balances the sweetness nicely. It is a Colheita for the discerning and perhaps also experienced lovers of port wine.
This Colheita is characterized by a long and persistent aftertaste. The Tawnys from Vieira de Sousa appear almost slightly oiled and lubricate your palate, so the taste lingers for a long time.
