A very big vintage for Vintage Port. A meaty and intense wine that makes licorice, fig, plum, tar and espresso coffee dance around in the mouth before the massive tannic acid strikes down and reminds us that there are decades of development ahead.... A newborn with monster powers that needs time to find its harmony: preferably between 10 and 40 years, or a wide-bottomed carafe if you want the experience sooner.
The wine is a so-called "Field Blend" with the five most famous port wine grapes, which have been planted between each other since ancient times. Most of the grapes are from Krohn's own vineyard "Quinta de Retiro Novo" in the central Douro at Pinhao.
About the Port Wine Cellar
The Port Wine Cellar is a combined port wine bar where you can buy and enjoy a glass of port wine. We are also a retail store and webshop selling port wine.
The Port Wine Cellar has fixed opening hours on Fridays and Saturdays from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM. The cellar has room for 26 seated guests (+ 4 outdoor seating). Here, in addition to enjoying a glass of port wine, you can also enjoy a port wine drink or order a tapas platter.
